Job Description: We are casting for the lead role of Wanle, a young Hapa-Hawaiian woman, in an upcoming short film. The film will be shot in Oahu, HI, under a SAG-AFTRA Short Film Agreement. Wanle is a complex character, deeply connected to her cultural roots and facing the challenges of stepping into her late father’s shoes as a major cockfighter in their local community. This role requires an actress who can bring depth, emotion, and authenticity to the portrayal of a woman caught between her past, her family legacy, and her future.
Job Responsibilities:
- Portray the character of Wanle, a young woman grappling with the death of her father and the secrets he left behind.
- Deliver lines in heavy Pidgin (Hawaiian Creole) with fluency and authenticity.
- Work closely with the director and production team to develop and express Wanle’s emotional journey.
- Participate in rehearsals, fittings, and all scheduled shoot days in Oahu, HI.
Requirements:
- Female, Hapa-Hawaiian (Hawaiian + Other Ethnicities), aged 20-25.
- Must speak heavy Pidgin (Hawaiian Creole) fluently.
- Must be able to embody the strong cultural and emotional aspects of Wanle’s character.
- Previous acting experience is preferred but not mandatory if the candidate can convincingly deliver the role.
- Must be able to travel to Oahu, HI for the duration of the shoot.
Compensation Details:
- Compensation will be provided according to the SAG-AFTRA Short Film Agreement.
