Heery Loftus Casting is seeking two young actors for the lead roles in an upcoming USC Master’s thesis film titled “The Dolla Party.” This film will be shot in Philadelphia and follows the story of two teenagers navigating life, love, and the challenges of growing up in North Philly. The film offers a unique opportunity for young actors to showcase their talents in a significant project that will be covered by a SAG-AFTRA contract.
Job Responsibilities:
- Desi (Black Girl, Age 13-16):
- Portray a full-figured, kind, shy, and dependable teenager.
- Bring to life the character’s vivid daydreams and express her boy-crazy energy.
- Capture the essence of a girl born and raised in North Philly, with a deep connection to her surroundings and personal experiences.
- Lamont (Black Boy, Age 13-16):
- Portray a sweet, confident, and gangly young man with a genuine charm.
- Showcase Lamont’s unspoken crush on Desi and his role as a supportive, lovable character in her life.
- Express the complexities of teenage life in North Philly with authenticity and emotional depth.
Requirements:
- Desi:
- Must be a Black girl, aged 13-16, with a full-figured body type.
- Ability to convey a range of emotions, from shy and kind to energetic and boy-crazy.
- Lamont:
- Must be a Black boy, aged 13-16, with a confident yet sweet demeanor.
- Should have a gangly appearance and a charm that makes him endearing.
- General:
- Must be local to the Philadelphia area.
- Both union and non-union actors are encouraged to apply.
Compensation:
- Contract: The roles will be covered by a SAG-AFTRA contract, ensuring professional rates and working conditions. Both union and non-union actors are eligible to apply.
